Bicycle Safety Program
The Geneseo Police Department, in cooperation with the Livingston County Cornell Cooperative Extension, assists in providing free helmet fitting, as well as free bicycle helmets to low income families. If you would like to take advantage of this service, please call the Geneseo Police Department at 243-2420.
Kid ID Kits
Kid ID Kits assist parents in easily creating a private and comprehensive record of their child’s personal and medical information, for use in an emergency. When a child is missing, the first few hours are crucial to recovery. During this very emotional time, parents often search for current photos and cannot always remember their child’s most basic information.
A Kid ID Kit enables parents to immediately give police a complete and accurate description, saving precious time and hastening the search. Please contact the Geneseo Police Department at 585-243-2420 for more information.
Property Checks
The Geneseo Police Department is committed to protecting the property of its citizens. If you own a house or building within the Village limits of Geneseo and need your property checked for a minimum of one week, complete and return the Property Check Form, which will allow us to randomly check on your property during the specified time period.
Speed Awareness
The Geneseo Police Department received a Legislative Grant in the amount of $9,000 to purchase a new Speed Trailer. The grant was made possible by Senator Dale Volker.
The Speed Trailer is equipped with a statistical package, which records the number of vehicles that pass it, the speed of the vehicles and the time of day. This statistical information is useful for traffic surveys, as well as knowing what times of the day additional speed enforcement is necessary and on which roadways. If you would like to request the use of the Speed Trailer on your street, please call the office at 585-243-2420 or visit our office on Main Street.
